Exactly right -- CCleaner is the only fully-functional
free Registry fixer I've yet found, and it works well
(make sure to run the error check/fix cycle multiple
times, until it finds nothing more).  In the same
vein, I find the free utility ERUNT
<http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt>
to be the best way to back up the Registry -- and the
included utility NTRegOpt works GREAT after the
CCleaner cleanup to optimize the Registry.  Size
reductions of 5-15% (or more) are not unusual.

I have also had an ERUNT backup save my bacon when
System Restore failed.
