Greetings Eric,

My name is Nik Reist and I have been in KLUG off and on since 2001. It is
always a wonderful thing when people are introduced to the concepts of Open
Source software. There is such a niche there just waiting to become main
stream. I am attending DeVry University Online for a Bachelors degree in
Computer Programming, Game Design and Simulation Programming. I also work
as an IT consultant for a local firm in the area. Our firm proudly supports
the Ubuntu philosophy and we also sell and support system running Debian and
Redhat based distributions. Any experiences you can bring to us are
welcome. The meeting schedule can be found on the KLUG website. Hope to
see you at the meetings.

Thanks,

Nik Reist

Subject: [KLUG Members] Intro and AU-LUG

Heya,

My name is Eric Scott, and I just joined the list. I'm a Computer Science
and Math Studies major at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, and we're
in the infant stages of starting a LUG here on the AU campus. I figured
it'd be a good idea to get in touch since, as you guys are the closest
active LUG, it would make since to coordinate some in the future, or at
least for us to drop in on one of your meetings from time to time :-).

Of course I'm not sure how things will go over here just yet -- right now I
have a list of ten or so email addresses of students interested, but I'm not
sure if that number will shrink or grow as the semester progresses. We have
a few novices (Folks lured in by my pitch at an IEEE meeting) and savants (
i.e. Students that already work programming at ITS) -- it remains to be seen
whether we'll lean more towards install-fest type stuff or hackathons :-).

So, hi! Pleased to meet ya! Any tips would be welcome... I've only been to
a few LUG'ish things before, and technically don't know the first thing
about running one.

Eric
