Which is NOT the case with any of the machines I was talking about. I
really don't buy "retail" PC's at all; they either used utility boxes
from HP or IBM, or they're built custom.

Ah, one of yours, OK.

Of the three machines here, One (that got bump) is a cheapo firewall box, 
which otherswise runs fine. One is a machine built here (bad power cable 
segment and all), and the third is an HP Vectra box that is just rolling
along, running Postgres, BIND, NNTPCache, and some applications I've 
written.
