No the mouse pointer remains the same (which I like).  The hour glass
shows up in the task chooser applett on the tool bar as a selector with
the name of the application (Evolution, Terminal, etc...) and the hour
glass as the icon.  The hour glass also appears in the focus indicator
(top right by default) until the applications first window appears.

Not that I did.  I had the hourglass pointer thing along time ago when
it was in the main build,  but it went away when they removed the
feature.  Maybe it is still floating around in gconf somewhere,  but I
don't see anything for it in gnomecc (cursory examination).
