[KLUG Members] What's the "Best" mail server.

I'm setting up a mail/web server and trying to decide on a mail server.
It seems sendmail works with damn near everything well (or everything
works well with sendmail) but I'm concerned about security issues. I
haven't heard anything solid but I've heard grumbles.

I have heard tons of good things about qmail.

My two concerns are making sure that the mail server plays nice (and easy)
with other software out there (PHP, web mail servers, listserv, etc) and
that it is secure.

Oh, and free is always good.

I haven't done this before so any pro's and cons and recommendations
would be appreciated.
