Hey everyone,

The other day I decided to upgrade my laptop from
Redhat 6.1 to a newer version. I attempted RH 7.1 but
the install would not go no matter what I tried, any
time anaconda started the install died. So I
downloaded Slakware 8.0 and installed that everything
went fine except I can't get X to load at all. I've
even re-installed RH6.1 and copied the XF86Config file
to the Fat partition on the hard drive, reinstalled
Slak and copied the XF86Config that Worked in RH6.1
over but that still does not work. Any suggestions???
When I startx I get nothing but vertical lines across
the screen.

Also when Slak boots it gives me an error about an
unspecified screen resolution was passed and to choose
from a list of 7 which includes 80x30, 80x60, 80x25,
40x25. I have a feeling that this is my problem but I
can't seem to correct it no matter what I do.

Thanks
