> Your /home is riserfs?! You are a brave man.

One thing to be care of is to _avoid_ the "JFS wars."

I have never used JFS, but I have used Ext3, ReiserFS and XFS. All of
the later three cater to different users.

Ext3 is an evolutionary jump from Ext2, for those that swear by Ext2.
ReiserFS is a very advanced, revolutionary approach to filesystems, with
excellent small file performance and extensible meta-data -- but it
breaks a lot of traditional UNIX'ism (and various services take issue).
XFS is a port from Irix, excels are large file serving (A/V content
distribution is its "killer app") and is a traditional UNIX design that
is currently the most feature rich JFS for Linux (official quota
support, ACLs, including Samba 2.2 support, etc...).

The new Mandrake 8.1 beta has kernel 2.4.8 patched with Ext3 and JFS. I
was scratching my head on why XFS wasn't included (especially since JFS
was and it lacks a lot of support that ReiserFS does too) until I
realized that GRUB doesn't support XFS. It's funny, XFS is fully LILO
compatible, yet because of ReiserFS issues with LILO, GRUB was used
(since someone added support for ReiserFS), so now XFS isn't an option.
