Some cable provider record the MAC of the card the modem was installed
on, and other cards won't work.  Maybe that is your problem.

FWIW,  make sure dhcpcd is checking for an IP on the correct ethernet
address.  I've mixed up eth0/eth1 before.  If you have another box,
double check this with ethereal.
