[KLUG Members] Audio editing software?

I'm wondering if anybody can recommend a specific WAV-editing package.  
I've tried out most of the ones featured on Freshmeat and Sourceforge, and
I've searched Google too, but I can't seem to find an application that
will let me record a 30-minute WAV from the line input, edit
(copy/paste/trim) the sound, and apply simple effects such as
normalization and noise reduction.  Open-source would be nice, but I'd
gladly pay a reasonable fee for such a program if need be, if it meant
that I could avoid having to use Windows.  Ideas?
