I think what they meant was, you don't have to configure a proxy at
all because it happens automagically whether you like it or not.

If you find a way to bypass Charter's automatic Squidifying of my
outgoing port-80 requests, let me know...

Let me know well in advance.  I've only got experience with
configuring OpenBSD 2.8 using ipf, the firewall which is deprecated
since its author "clarified" its license.  I'd want to reconfigure
for the latest and greatest versions before I tried to lay it on
anyone else :)
