Yeah ... the dipwad who installed my comcast@home pulled some stupid
stunts,too.

I wanted him to enter the house through the same route used by the
phone lines. He drilled a hole in my wall, instead. I told him I
wanted the coax cable to be long enough to follow the baseboard and
reach the far wall so I could move furniture around as I wished. He
gave me a 3' lead and threw at least 20' of cable in my trash bin. I
had taken down the gutters to replace some old fascia boards and he
secured the outside coax where the gutter had to go. He laid his
grounding wire across the back steps instead of under them ( a
problem that would have been wholly avoided if he had come in through
the same route the telephone lines do.

He didn't know from routers ... could only install directly into a
NIC on a Windows box. As soon as his truck was out of site around the
corner I was re-wiring the inside stuff.

I don't expect a guy to be a rocket scientist ... but a simple "can I
mount it here?" "where do you want the wire to enter the house?",
"Will this be long enough?" would have gone a long way. Thank
goodness I only have to deal with the installer once in a while. The
service itself has been very, very, good.

Bill

These guys get a flat fee per installation. Ya gotta watch 'em like a
hawk.
