Hey
At first I had the same problems with my radeon 32mb ddr at first xfree
did not support it then a few months latter they did im nut sure if it
can support the duel monitor capabilities cause that could be the
problem
Hears 2 things to try

The ati page
http://support.ati.com/faq/linux.html?cboOS=LinusXFree86&cboProducts=RAD
EON+VE&cmdNext=GO%21
For the radeon ve on Linux on ati's page

Also try putting the monitor on the other svga connecter

Subject: [KLUG Members] Radeon VE

I bought a Radeon VE card this weekend. I rushed home to rip off the
cover
of the new machine I am building and install the card. I cranked up the
box
with a Freshly downloaded Mandrake 8.1 install cd. The install appeared
to
finish ok. I took the defaults when it came to installing XFree86.
When it
was time to reboot after the install, I anxiously waited to see the new
desktop. The only thing I saw was a black screen with a mouse pointer.
Any
suggestions?

-Scott
