I don't know diddly about Novel, but in general here is a checklist of dumb
stuff to check?

nslookup can find the name? In both forward AND reverse?

You can ping the other box?

Do you have any routers between you and the host? If so are you ABSOLUTELY
POSITIVE they aren't filtering your traffic?

If there are no routers does your ARP cache show the correct MAC for the host?

Can you run ethereal to snag the communications (or lack of) between the two
hosts? At least then you'll know if client is even trying, or if the server is
making any kind of response.
