I just take the performance statistics reported by scp (SSH file copy) as
all my boxes have sshd running. Sure it adds the overheads of encryption
and some compression, but on a "modern" box that should be irrelevent.
One can spend huge amounts of time arguing about what a "correct"
benchmark is, I go with "close enough for hand gernades". It will at
least make clear when performance is lousy.

Earth is towards the edge (assuming that is your home). On my star chart
there is a white arrow that must be couple of thousand light years long
indicating the position of our solar system, that should be clearly
visible from anywhere this side of the galactic center. The real question
is who took these pictures of the milky way?
