Once again, my useless 2 cents (pennies are pretty useless to the
end-user):

Internet Explorer and Netscape react the same way to "wide" pages under
Windows (especially pages with complex tables).  Many sites offer a
"printable" or "printer friendly" version of documents for this reason
(or offer a PDF which is generally better suited for printing anyhow).
I would be interested in hearing about a utility to "resize" pages who's
width exceeds the printers standard, but still keeps things in ratio.
Other than that.. maybe you could print in "Landscape"
