Hehe... it'll work--but RedHat might not. You might want to find one of the
mini-distros or even a floppy distribution.
Anyway, for installation purposes (if you decide to install on the hard drive) I
would recommend removing the hard drive and putting in a faster machine, doing
the install, and then putting it back in the 486...
