I've added Smoothwall 0.9.9 to the list of CD's sold by KLUG.

For those who don't know, Smoothwall is a _dedicated_ firewall
package. In fact it's so dedicated, during it's install process,
it will completely destroy the first hard drive on a PC, almost
without asking. So, be warned, you need a machine you can
dedicate to be your firewall and nothing else.

Smoothwall supports cable modems, DSL (including PPPoE, and USB),
ISDN, and the lowly dialup user such as myself. It's a breeze
to install and configure (been running it all weekend myself).
All configuration is done by simply pointing a web browser at
your new dedicated firewall after the five minute install.
It even has a SSL web server installed if you don't trust
people on your local network! :-)

Along with being a connect upon demand firewall, it also has
the optional features of:

o Squid proxy server.
o DHCP server for your network.
o DMZ for servers (third network).
o Port forwarding to your servers.
o Custom firewall rules.
o Intrusion Detection System (snort).
o SSH client and server.
o A dozen or more logs online.
o Persistent connection (reconnects when disconnected).
o Automatic update of five major dynamic dns services
   whenever your IP changes (hn.org, dyndns.org, dhs,org ...)
o IPSEC VPN's (Freeswan).

Did I mention all the the above was configured from a web browser? :-)

And get this: I've heard of people running it on a 386 with 8MB of
memory and getting decent performance! (they recommend 16MB memory :)
I installed it on a 540MB drive with plenty of room to spare.

Since there is room available, I redid the ISO image they provide and
added all of their PDF documentation. (it actually has excellent docs! :)
