>Retailer picks Linux for point-of-sale
Actually this is pretty old, Burl has been using Linux for a long time.
>Case study: Burlington Coat Factory is a pioneer among large retailers
>that are turning to Linux-powered point-of-sale systems for security,
>stability, and cost savings. The Burlington, N.J.-based retail chain
>upgraded to Wincor Nixdorf's Linux-based BEETLE/S POS system, running
>under Red Hat Linux 7.1. Why Linux?
Other than because it rocks?
>CIO Mike Prince found Linux to be
>faster and less expensive than dedicated POS systems, yet more stable
>and secure than Windows-based options. Has your company migrated
>mission-critical applications to Linux?
Yes. And we have developed some there "natively" as well.
Maybe we should get someone from Burl to come and present.....
