Yeah, tried that, don't have any. In the meantime, there's a package
called MAKEDEV, which is an executable and a bunch of configuration
files in /etc/makedev.d This is more or less the table I was looking
for. Parallel Printers are major 6, minor = to device number, so lp0
is 6,0. USB devices are assigned in the 180 range (probably whenever
they are plugged in), and they seem to fall into ranges, too. SO now
I wonder why parport (the module that gets loaded to drive the printer)
is even LOOKING for something in the char-major-180 range.... It
"should" go to major 6....
