I upgraded from Samba 1.9.something to 2.2.3a and there is an annoying
difference. Previously machines without a network login were able to
browse certain directories and use printers with the "guest account".
Now it's asking for a password on the guest account. Previously the
account didn't have a password ("*" in /etc/passwd), but I had to assign
it one, and it has to be correct before anyone can browse the server or
connect to these shares. The shares in question have "guest ok"
specified in smb.conf.

If I have to give the guest account a password, how is that any
different than a normal account now???
