I don't think I'll be recommending anyone buy computers from Walmart. Not that I recommend any "new" computer users to any retail store..
What hardware did you run lindows on? I was thinking about trying it on a free computer here.
Running only root! Wow! That could be a mistake, I'm thinking about the security issues that could come up.
Think I'll give lindows a try.

It was, shall we say, enlightening.

The first thing I noticed is that it runs everything as root and more
importantly does not even give you the ability to do something
different. I assume that if I really wanted to work at it I could
add some additional users but I do not think I could log in as
anything other than root in KDE.

The menus are constantly pointing to the click-n-add web site wanting
you to subscribe to it. There are some programs but not a large
number. I did not try to add any additional Linux programs on the
system.

I did get Microsoft Office 2000 to install. I just inserted the cd
and it installed flawlessly. I ran Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and IE
(that was really wierd!). Access tanked on me though. I was not
able to print from them though.

I did get printing working on a network printer. I did not have a
locally connected printer to try. I may have been able to get
printing to work for Office if I had a locally connected printer but
am not sure.

All in all, if I knew someone that wanted to get away from M$ Windows
and did not want to be a Linux geek type I would recommend a Mac for
them (of course I have a like for the Mac too though). Things would
have not gone as well if it had not been for my knowledge of Linux in
the first place. I had to go to the shell several times to undork
things when loading games and trying to run Access.

The games that I tried to load did not, however they do not work on
Windows 2000 either so it is probably not a really fair test.

Interesting concept and kinda cute but I am not going to strike up
the band for it.
