rsync will use the r* tools by default, but it's quite easy to setup via SSH.  Using the shared private/public key combinations of SSH makes a pretty slick way to backup data onto the HD of another box from my experience.  -Especially- if it's over a WAN.

Could also come in handy when trying to automate something like the desktop<->laptop idea.
