The /var/log/messages didn't reveal anything.

Although,

WE HAVE A WINNER.

Removing "only from: localhost" allowed  me to get into SWAT.  Now will see if I can get SAMBA configurea and working from there.
Thanks again for the help with SWAT.  It is very much appreciated.
