[KLUG Members] Samba problem

I am have a Samba authentication problem.  It appears to 
be the same problem I had when I installed RH7.2 with 
md5 checked.

If I log in as root and change the password to guest it 
says it changes but when I do a 
smbclient //server/public -U guest it tells me bad 
password username combo.  If I attempt to change the 
guest password with smbpasswd as guest it first asks me 
what the old password is set to.  After typing it in it 
tells me wrong password even though I just rest t as 
root.

Any suggestions?
