I was able to purchase a 4 port router/switch for the
same price as a switch, so I did :)

This router is designed for broadband, which I do not
have.  If I connected to the internet through a box
running either smoothwall or ipcop, could I connect
the lan cable from that computer into the "broadband"
slot in the router?

Is there any way to make this work?

The router does all the DHCP... It's a d=link 4 port
switch/router.
