He must appear arbitrary if he is personal, for persons choose.  To make a
rose red was to not choose every other color.  Answered prayer will always in
one sense appear capricious while at the same time be magnanimous.  What we
call "suffrage," the right to vote, originally meant the opportunity to ask
the almighty.  We demand the right to choose our software because we're
persons.  We pray when we believe he is [at least] as capable as ourselves.
