Yes, mailman is a black box.  It works great, but if you need to
customize, look elsewhere.  I tried hooking in some 'special case' stuff
and it sent me packin' with tail tucked tightly between my legs.  I told
the users to bite it, as it supports a huge majority of the features
needed by a dozen groups with only hundred of members each.
