I gave up on using the graphical installer and went to text mode. After
getting part way through the second CD, the installer goes bezerk.

I get the following from the installer page:

rpmdb: write failed for page XXXX
rpmdb: Packages: write failed for XXXXXXXXX, 4096: Input/Output error
rpmdb fsync Input/Output error

under another screen I see:

hda: recal_intr: status = 0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}
  and a truck load of similar messages about hda with wording about
errors flashing by. :(
Tons of ide0: reset.

I'm no expert, but the errors list look like they could be back no?
Hard driver shot?

Funny machine was fine with rh6.1?

Thoughts?
