[KLUG Members] Looking forward to RedHat 7.2

I have a RedHat 7.2 server from Monarch setting in a box. It is to replace
my current Samba 1.9 on RedHat 5.2 central file server. All I have to do is
figure out how to migrate all my user settings and files between the two
boxes.

I have figured out how to use linuxconf for a couple of things, but I find
that too many of the options expect you to know the basics of what happens
when you choose an option. And quite frankly, I don't really understand what
the option does. The last thing I want to do is break a running server.

I have downloaded a couple of versions of webmin, but have never had time to
learn how to use it.

Do the RH7.2 DNS and Apache contols work with a chrooted named?

My biggest problem with Bind 8.2.3 is that the control utility ndc comes
pre-compiled for a non-chrooted DNS. If you look in /etc/rc.d/init.d/named,
you can see that most of the functions call ndc to execute. I am running a
chrooted Bind, and the 8.2.3 version of ndc doesn't know where to talk to a
chrooted Bind!!! Hello, I thought it was the ISC Bind people who told us we
should all be running Bind chrooted. When you run Bind 8.2.3 chrooted the
named script is broken for half the functions.

Fortunately, I only have to keep Apache running for our Intranet. When I
shut down the old RedHat 5.X intrantet webserver that was running on the old
firewall (duh, insecure), I had to reconfigure another RedHat 5.X server to
take it's place. That server was our inhouse web development server. I had
to figure out how to host a virtual domain to separate the Intrantet from
our Internet development site. I managed to stumble through that. Our first
web page developer has all kinds of apps he wrote to maintain our web site
(Don Marti of Linux Journal fame) and I don't know if any of them will run
on upgraded library files if I upgrade the OS.

Thanks again for the help.
