Problem solved:
I had downloaded a later version of ghostscript than the
version that came with my BS 7.2. When I replaced this
version with the older one (using --oldpackage), the problem
disappeared! The clue came when I looked at the messages
when I did an lpq -v.
A gs error occured there. Why I don't know. Any suggestions
as to how I can change other packages to make the new
ghostscript work with my printer? (other than waiting for
a new BSware that has the new ghostscript :) ).
