Hrmm.... This is confusing.

We want to do vLAN for the upcoming expo, and to do so we need to feed the
switch 802.1q packets (tagged, explicit vlan). It is a Cisco Catalyst.

I've used vLANs but on my Hawking switches you configure the vLAN
implicitly via an RS-232 console.

So, no problem right? Linux has supported vlan tagging in the "stock"
kernel since 2.4.14. But one sets up vLANs with the "vconfig" command,
not provided with RedHat, and based upon the absence of /proc/net/vlan I'm
thinking RH doesn't support 802.1q.

Curious if anyone has used 802.1q with Linux?
