I got my first RH8.0 disks from Bruce last night and today did my first
8.0 installation (on a brand new IBM x330 w/1Gb RAM, mirrored 15k RPM
Ultra SCSI3 drives, trunked ethernet interfaces, and dually 1.2Ghz Xeons
with extra L2 cache, zooooommm...)

I first tried the text mode installed, but couldn't figure out how to
create a logical volume. It let me merrily create an MD device and dump
a physical volume on that, but then I couldn't figure out how to
instance any lvs on it. Did I miss something obvious?

So I zapped the reset button, plugged in a mouse, and started over in
GUI installer. First impression - Wow! That is one Zzexy installed,
all anti-aliased, shaded, bevelled.... The icons, blurbs, etc... are all
first rate. It gives IBM's DVD based installer a run for it's money,
only no music. :( How about a built in Ogg Vorbis player? The 1812
Overture plays quietly in the background...

The GUI disk druid let me create mds, pvs, and lvs in just about any
combination I could dream up. Very nice!

I can't wait to see how fast this baby loads Open Office. :)
