It seems like Redhat 7.2 came with bind version 8, and RH 8.0 & 7.3
comes with bind version 9, so be careful about exchanging config files.

You could trying installing the 7.2 bind RPM on RH 8.0, to see if that
makes any difference. I haven't tried a bind server under RH 8.0.

Could be a lot of things, including a firewall blocking it . . .

Turn on debug/trace when you try and resolve a foreign host.

Sounds like a job for Mr. DNS. John? . . . ;-)
