[KLUG Members] setting time

Ok... I know this will probably sound really stupid but how do I set
the time in Linux (from the command prompt).  I am sure it is like
really easy but the solution seems to just be escaping me.  

Also, I am trying on another machine to setup network time service
but do not seem to be getting it right either.  Is there a good web
site to go to for info on nts?
