Apologies in advance for the non-Linux message content, but hopefully
the last paragraph will be redemptive. :)

Haven't tried GW 6.5 yet. We just made it to 6 where I'm at. We're
starting to take a look at it though.

I don't administer an Exchange system, but I have plenty of colleagues
that do and we chat about such things. (The stuff us nerds talk about
over coffee!) From the administration view, it seems much more
configurable and flexible than GroupWise in ConsoleOne. Lots of third
party support add-on too. Again, I don't administer any Exchange
systems, but I am responsible for a sizable GroupWise system.

>From the users perspective, the thing that makes Exchange a nudge better
than GroupWise is contacts management. The GW address book is severely
lacking. With Exchange, you can relate all sorts of other Exchange info
to your contacts (appts, emails, docs, etc.).

Just my opinions. :)

Like many others on this list, I really would like to see a killer open
source project to replace M$ and GW both. Heck, even if it were closed
source yet affordable and could run on multiple platforms (like
say...Linux!), I think we'd take a hard look at it. Evolution is a great
step in that direction as far as the client side goes, and the Ximian
Connector for Exchange is very promising. (Note that there is no
connector for GroupWise though. :(
