I haven't had any probs with konqueror in 8.2, but I haven't really let 
my machine run for more than a few hours at a time before tinkering 
with hardware.

what I did, in 8.0, was to make it so only root could shutdown or 
reboot. made it simply a "Logout/Cancel" confirmation box. if you 
clicked shutdown or reboot in the login screen, it would ask for the 
root password.
