The answer can only be "It depends."
It depends on how many daemons you have loaded.
It depends on how streamlined your kernel is.
It depends on how well you have it configured.
etc...
I suppose that the real difference then is that a sharp person can actually
do something about it in Linux where as Windoz will always assume it knows
better than you do. As far as I know, Windoz kernels cannot be strippped
or streamlined, for example.
The price issue also comes into play. For the price of the time nescesary
to configure it (and perhaps the time to *learn how* to configure it), one
can create a paralell processing cluster with Linux. Windows is much
easier to configure but It'll cost ya.
What it boils down to is "Does the OS in question posess comparatively more
or less of the features I, as a user or sysadmin, value the most."
