I am using RedHat 8 and have problems with gnome-volume-control. I am
using an es1370 pci card and as far as I can tell I am using OSS that came
with RH. I am not very linux compatible :oP so I don't know how to fix
this and have submitted a bug report to bugzilla and I'm not really
getting the answer I was hoping for. Anyway, on to the problem. When I
use aumix or kmix I can adjust cd audio values just fine. However, when I
use gnome-volume-control while playing an audio cd (just a point of
reference it does this regardless of audio cd or not) it cuts off my cd
and line input audio record value (deselects the mixer value to tell the
inputs to send sound to my card). It gets better. When I try to use
gnome-volume-control to reselect the checkboxes to record I select one
then go to select another and the previous box loses it's checkmark. This
doesn't seem to matter if I am root or not. I tried updating the
gnome-media to 2.0.25 or whatever the latest version is, and it didn't
seem to help. I am not sure where to begin but I have tried just about
everything (including changing permissions to /dev/ mixer* dsp* audio*.
Any help would be cool otherwise I will just work around it.
Nik

P.S. sorry I haven't been to any meetings recently I will try for the
next one.
