Not dumb at all, just learning a new subject.  I don't have a
recommendation for a basic SQL book.  O'Reilly
(http://databases.oreilly.com/) has some interesting books.

By crosswalk, I mean that you need a way to match student IDs to 
the internal linking numbers.  Do you have another table that has
both student IDs and internal linking numbers?
