As many of you already know, the next beginners' meeting is this
evening, the seventh of January, and your new installmaster is in need
of a few good geeks...

We have two requests, one confirmed, for new installations, and another
confirmed who wishes to correct problems with an existing installation.
The latter wants to find an Apache module or other utility to snap
photos from a USB webcam at a regular interval, is having font scaling
problems when sending text directly to his Canon BubbleJet, and is also
having segfault problems with a LinuxConf installation.

The confirmed installation requester intends to connect his box to the
internet through a cable modem, and another box running XP will be
connecting to the net through it. This will mean setting up a second LAN
card and some basic routing.

The third has mentioned no special condtions, but I did note that his
system appears to be using a Conexant winmodem. I've had some recent
success getting one of these working, so I'll likely tackle this one
myself if the need arises. Meanwhile, anyone here planning to attend and
willing to offer our fresh recruits some additional assistance would be
most welcome indeed!

I must apologize to the Powers That Be if this is not the best approach,
but hope I might be forgiven as a bit of a newbie still myself. I will
be working on assembling a more 'official' Install Team for future
meetings, if one is not already defined. Anyone interested in signing on
is welcome to send an email to installmaster@kalamazoolinux.org. Please
allow me a week or so to get some extra advice from the officers and
fellow volunteers. Like I said, I'm still new at this. *grin*
