I'm not the person who posted the message to which your replied, but most of
the traffic in "aftermarket" domain names and auctions is not really personal
in nature, with perhaps a few very notable exceptions. Companies who are 
building websites, or website developers and designers acting on their behalf 
account for the bulk of their demand.

If people like this are convinced that a articular domain name enhances their 
image or allows their name to stick in the heads of the audience, they are
willing to pay piles for a particular name. You and I do not have the funds to 
be so discriminating, or it may not be that high on our agenda.
