Adam,

Thanks.  Sounds like what you are telling me is the educational value is 
there if I have, a ton of spare time and a love of torture. Personally I 
lova a challenge.  Before I embark the quest of a life time, should I do 
anything to keep from breaking current packages?  Can I leave the 
existing gnome there until I get all compiled?
