I'm annoyed; it's nearly 1:30 AM july 5, and I still haven't figured this
out. I was hoping to solve this problem alone (and I think I did: meaning
I'm screwed) but I can't solve it.

I have a Sun Enterprise 2, Dual 200 MHz system. Right now, it is running
CDE/whatever just fine. I've mananged to get everything I needed
installed (and what wouldn't compile from source, I installed packages
for) but I simply cannot get 'X' to go above a bitdepth of 8. I'm really
freaking annoyed. I've googled for hours. I've tried a myriad of things
according to different docs, and I'm about ready to give up and say that
the board doesnt' support above 8 bpp, but then, maybe someone here knows.
I've fiddled with just about everything but my eeprom, and I don't think
that's the solution.

So, if someone here knows, I'd LOVE to hear it. I'm pulling my hair out
and am ready to call it quits and just export X from it to my linux box.

Bah.
