I never used it, but I read up on Jabber awhile ago.

The advantage of Jabber for an organization is it's all open source,
there are clients for all OS's, and you can run your own server easily.

Running your own server has big advantages for an organization, since
you can run it behind a firewall, VPN it, and/or limit who has access.

Unfortunately I was unable to convince my boss that internal IM would
benefit our company.

The only problem I've found is Evo doesn't recognize encrypted email
from one client.  I have to save the message and run gpg --decrypt.
