Some thoughts (I have them occasionally):
There might be something commercially available (i.e. that you would 
have to pay for) but would at least run on Linux, possibly reduceing TCO.
One assumes that the output format could be anything that is fairly 
ubiquitious such as HTML?  Could the output file be a PDF or perhaps an 
OpenOffice presentation slide, etc?
