[KLUG Members] Canon i850 -great printer but LINUX driver?

Canon isn't very opensource friendly...

linuxprinting.org has a "vendor report card" and canon didn't do to 
well.

HP and Epson do quite well on the report card. There are even linux 
utilities for all the intricate details of Epsons (and maybe now even 
HP's?) like head alignment and cleaning.

i found out about Canon the hard way as well, I have an S630, took a 
while to get a driver to work with it (then I came across SuSE, and it 
worked GREAT!, just plugged it in, and added it to the list of 
printers, and viola! a printer that prints color and prints the correct 
size even...)

sorry for the bad news about canon...
