Hello. Since I feel deprived with only one computer <sniff>, I'm going
to get another one and I need some advice:
1. Used laptop. ~ $600. Easy choice. Lots of ThinkPads are looking for a
better home with a less abusive pare--I mean, OS.
2. New Laptop. ~ $1300. Caveat -- I won't get a laptop with the Windows
tax. No debate here.
3. Sharp Zaurus SL-5500. ~ $200. With a wireless card (which I'd get for
any of these machines) this is the ultimate just-whip-it-out-and-play
toys. I'm looking for mobility over supercomputing.

4. Sharp Zaurus SL-C700. ~ $700. This is a clamshell handheld that is
not quite available in the west, but that might not be such a
problem.

The first two options are most familiar. The next two options are tougher:
Does anyone with a Sharp Zaurus want to offer their opinion on its
usability and/or performance? Also, can any wireless cards upgrade to
the forthcoming 802.11g standard, or is it all proprietary for now?
My issue is near-constant and convenient connectivity, not sheer CPU
power. (If I get a used PC laptop or the cheaper Zaurus, I'll just
upgrade my current machine and give Laura a sorely-needed free upgrade.)
Thank you.
