And I've had good luck with the ICQ plugin for GAIM.  For users of
multiple IM services, it's nice to have only one IM window open.

What method of encryption does LICQ use?  Is it a private/public key
thing like GPG/PGP?  If not, how does it work exchanging keys?

Email doesn't have to be insecure.  I setup Evolution with GPG recently
for the first time.  Very slick!  I've also heard good things about
other email clients that support GPG out of the box like Evolution.

Fairly simple to setup.  VERY simple to use.  And VERY SECURE.
