Point of Clarification: Red Carpet supporting a platform does not mean XD2 
is supported on that platform.  For instance XD2 is not available for 
Mandrake, but you can use Red Carpet to update your installation and/or 
install Evolution; but not the whole XD2 suite.

That audience member was me!  I didn't mean quite that Samba 3+ "supports 
AppleTalk".  What Samba 3+ has is excellent integration with Net-A-Talk 
(which supports AppleTalk, or at least along with help from the kernel).  
Samba 3+ will hide Apple-esque resource forks from Win32 clients and 
upon a Win32 file create/move operation will make the requisite meta-data 
for Net-A-Talk and it's Mac clients to experience complete happiness.  I 
use this support and it has so far worked flawlessly.
