Robert,

There are two pieces of software, besides the Microsoft Office suit, that I
am interested in running on this computer that now only uses the Linux
operating system. Both pieces of software were written to run computers
using Win98.

The first piece of software is called MapCHECK and analyzes data from a
radiation detection instrument called a MapCHECK, which has 455 diode
detectors in a 23 cm x 23 cm array. This instrument is used for measuring
radiation patterns from a linear accelerator used to treat cancer.

The second piece of software calculates and graphs attenuation coefficient
data for elements and mixtures versus x-ray energy from 10 keV to 50 MeV.

I would like to run these programs on the Linux computer and I hope Wine
will let me do it. If Wine doesn't work then I probably will dual boot the
computer after putting both Win98 and Linux on it. This is a pain since
much of the work I am doing is being done with the Linux operating system.
Jumping back and forth between operating systems is inconvenient but I may
have to do it if I can't get Wine to work for me.
